Bondi Stories 
I remember this.I lived just up on Hastings Parade and remember catching the trams to Bondi Junction.
In the 1950s my grandparents both lived in Hastings Parade. The family would visit several times a year.
I remember once we had a tram trip from North Bondi terminal, along Campbell Pde and up thru the cutting to Bondi Road (again) and Bondi Junction. Then return.
This was not long before the trams ceased running. Mother was worried the noise would keep my sister awake but it sent her to sleep.
I remember begging the driver to be on the tram as he parked it against the wall but he would not comply. To this day this action has been a source of annoyance to me – even the conductor thought he was being a little pig headed.
After the trams stopped running I walked to the end of the cutting and touched the wall – the very end of the line as it were.
IMO – They should never have been taken out of service.
